International Chicken Wing Day was introduced by the mayor of Buffalo, New York, in 1977 – shortly after the popular Buffalo Chicken Wing had its big break and became a hit throughout the States! We start our tour with the classic hot wings. The recipe actually dates back to 1964 when, for the first time, Teressa Bellissimo served the famous Buffalo Wings to her son and his friends at the Anchor Bar in Buffalo.
As was the case then, the deep-fried wings are marinated in a delicious hot sauce and continue to be a big hit today. The spicy flavour has a hint of celery which is not entirely coincidental. The reason being that, together with the delicious hot wings, Bellissimo also served celery sticks to the boys. So it will not be much more authentic than that!

The delicious and juicy “American-style” Tex-Mex wings are combined with the best spices from the Mexican cuisine. These include cumin, paprika, coriander, onion, garlic and tomato. The popular Tex-Mex flavour has, as its name also suggests, historical roots in Texas and Mexico.
