Accomplished health charity leader joins Heart & Stroke

Robyn Jones-Murrell appointed senior vice president for Western Canada

Heart & Stroke is pleased to announce the appointment of Robyn Jones-Murrell as senior vice president, Western Canada.

“We’re thrilled to welcome Robyn to our executive team. She has a proven track record in British Columbia’s charitable sector and is known for her entrepreneurial spirit and passion for effecting positive change in the community,” said Doug Roth, chief executive officer of Heart & Stroke. “Her focus on building meaningful, long-lasting relationships will be an invaluable asset as we drive our vision and work forward to beat heart disease and stroke.”

Jones-Murrell will be responsible for building strategic partnerships and overseeing mission and fundraising initiatives across Western Canada. She will also be a key member of the executive team working alongside other members to put Heart & Stroke’s national strategy into action.

“I have long admired Heart & Stroke’s vision, accomplishments and leadership within the Canadian charitable sector,” said Jones-Murrell. “Like so many, my family has been impacted by heart disease. Recently, my father experienced a heart attack, and I witnessed firsthand the power of breakthrough research and how it leads to lifesaving, cutting-edge care. I am thrilled to take on this new role and help drive more impact for people in Canada living with heart disease and stroke, as well as those at risk of these conditions.”

Prior to joining Heart & Stroke, Jones-Murrell spent 14 years with BC Cancer Foundation where she held several progressive roles in the areas of development, special events, and corporate relations. Most recently, she served as the associate vice president of development where she oversaw all aspects of the donor experience portfolio and government relations. In this role, she led the transformation of the donor and corporate relations portfolios and re-imagined signature fundraising initiatives, resulting in record fundraising donations and sponsorship, and deepened relationships with the donor and corporate communities.

Jones-Murrell was recognized for her leadership and proven track record in innovation by the Association for Healthcare Philanthropy (AHP) 40 Under 40 Program.
